why
why fiftythroughfifty?
To me, this is a 2 part question.
Why did I start this project, and why did I choose 50mm?
I started all this to help my photography.
Looking at my daily life, I find that I don’t seem to do much photography outside of work. And yet I’m always looking out for something to photograph, but never have a camera with me.
With this project, I’m going to have my camera with me at all times. Walking to the shops, catching a bus, going to work, cooking dinner – it doesn’t matter. I’m hoping it will really open my eyes to another world of things out there. I’ll hopefully start to see a different side of everyday events.
I choose the 50mm lens because the 50mm focal length has always been regarded as the most natural Field of View, and very close to what humans see through the naked eye.
Almost every camera manufacturer has a 50mm lens. They are very easy to make and normally have a very high image quality. They also tend to be cheap to buy.
So the 50mm lens is ideal for this kind of project.
It really does give you an idea of what I see every day.
Also, using a 500mm lens for 500 days just didn’t seem like a good idea at the time!! :)
